Trauma Counselling
I believe that many of our mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression, feeling stuck, feelings of unworthiness, shame, hopelessness, indecisiveness, communication challenges, lack of assertiveness, difficulty in setting boundaries and disconnection from ourselves often arise from past traumas or attachment woundings.
Distressing symptoms can occur from traumatic events as well as attachment wounds or living in chaotic, emotionally disconnected or abusive upbringings. When we experience trauma or attachment wounding, particularly as a child, it can change our self-perception, our ways of relating in the world and alter our relationships and ability to experience joy and feel safe in life.
I am trained in a number of evidence-based, trauma processing modalities that can lead to increased fulfilment, peace, confidence, and vitality.
These modalities include:
EMDR and flash EMDR
IFS informed
Mindfulness techniques
I also use visualization, grounding exercises, breathing exercises and will support you in drawing strength and wisdom from your own resources in your life that speak to you.
Although I draw from all trauma processing modalities that I am trained in, I believe deeply in the power of DBR because of its gentle approach based on research that helps to slow down and process moment to moment the sequences that happen in our body after a trauma or distressing event.
